Volunteers Make Handmade Halloween Costumes For NICU Babies!

Halloween is a fun time for the kids, except when they’re stuck in the hospital on the holiday. But some little babies in the NICU at a hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina got a special Halloween treat this year thanks to a group of volunteers.

Staff and parents of NICU grads brought in handmade Halloween costumes created just for the tiny patients in the ward, including the most adorable JIF peanut butter jar you’ve ever seen. Dressing up the babies is a tradition at the hospital and it’s more than just a photo opp.

“It’s hard to leave your babies up here,” Volunteer Hannah Mitchell admits, “But when they’re being taken care of and people are doing such special things for them, it makes it a little bit easier.”
