World Health Organization classifies new mental health condition

Know anyone who might be impacted by this?

A WHO report released this morning defines GAMING DISORDER as, "a pattern of gaming behavior (“digital-gaming” or “video-gaming”) characterized by impaired control over gaming, increasing priority given to gaming over other activities to the extent that gaming takes precedence over other interests and daily activities, and continuation or escalation of gaming despite the occurrence of negative consequences."

While the American Psychiatric Association hasn't yet classified Gaming Disorder as a mental health condition, NBC reports, "the association said it's 'a condition warranting more clinical research and experience before it might be considered for inclusion.'"
