CA's tax on diapers and feminine products - should it be repealed?

Two separate bills have been introduced for the 2019-2020 state legislative schedule.

AB 66 - introduced by San Diego's Lorena Gonzalez - would "exempt diapers intended for children 2 years old or younger from the state sales tax. The measure would save families approximately $100 per child every year – the average cost of buying a month’s worth of diapers."

Meanwhile, AB 1561 has been reintroduced by Bell Gardens' Cristina Garcia. According to a release on the bill, "Women in California still pay over $20 million annually in taxes on tampons, sanitary napkins, and menstrual cups paying on average $7 a month for forty years of their lives."
