Following safety concerns, one big-name company took their fleet out of commission.
According to KTVU, "Lyft has pulled 3,000 electric bikes from the streets of New York, San Francisco and Washington, D.C., after customers complained the bikes were braking too hard."
A blog post on the company's bike share website offered some more details: "Out of an abundance of caution, we are proactively removing the pedal-assist bikes from service for the time being. We know this is disappointing to the many people who love the current experience — but reliability and safety come first."
So... It looks like the bikes will be back, eventually.
