New "Sonic the Hedgehog" movie set in the Bay Area

The first trailer was just released this morning, and it looks as though the upcoming Paramount Pictures live action "Sonic the Hedgehog" adaptation will be set in San Francisco.

Not only does James Marsden - in his role as Tom Wachowski - yell out "S.F.P.D." as he initially encounters Sonic, but you'll spot a few outdoor locations that look like the city's skyline in the trailer.

There's also lots of talk about Jim Carrey starring as Dr. Robotnik.

Add in a healthy sampling of Coolio's 1995 hit "Gangsta's Paradise" in the trailer, and it appears this movie will give people who grew up in the 90's plenty to reminisce about.

"Sonic the Hedgehog" is currently set to open in theaters across the country on November 8, 2019.
