James Maslow Remixes Tanya Rad’s Breakup Anthem “Just Like That”

This is not a drill! James Maslow remixed Tanya Rad’s breakup anthem and it’s a total hit. The former Big Time Rush member has been busy working in the studio with TRIFØR when he came across Tanya’s song she wrote six years ago and whipped it up into a mega mix.

Tanya previously shared the song with Ryan Seacrest and Sisanie live on-air and they did a dramatic reading of it; Miles, who works at the studio, then hilariously turned the dramatic reading into a ballad and now we have James’ rendition — an actual hit!

“It was basically a breakup over FaceTime,” Tanya explained to James how she was dumped out of the blue by the man she thought was the love of her life. “I said, ‘Hold on,’ and I went to the bathroom [and] I vomited,” she continued. “I grabbed my sister because I was shaking so much I knew I wasn’t going to remember the conversation.”

James said that when he got ahold of Tanya’s lyrics, he knew he could turn it into something, but he had to make a few edits ...

“Not everything rhymed, which is OK, not everything has to rhyme in a song, but I have to admit, it was kind of tough to imagine it as I the type of music I do, putting it into a danceable, fun, pop song,” James said. “I stripped a couple lyrics. I changed a couple things, but the sentiment is still very much there … we added some tropical house … little Kygo-type vibe.”

And boy did he!

“Just Like That” by Tanya Rad featuring James Maslow and TRIFØR is a total jam.

“This is actually like unbelievable,” Tanya gushed. “Like, I really feel like I’m having an out of body experience.”
