San Mateo County To Allow Places Of Worship To Open With Restrictions

San Mateo County will be relaxing some of its shelter in place rules. People are now allowed to enjoy the beaches as long as social distancing rules are being followed. The order will also allow places of worship and in-store retail to operate with restrictions starting June 1. Places of worship must have six foot increments for individuals to stand and have aisles be one way to support social distancing.

Places of worship must encourage vulnerable staff and congregants (those above age 50 or with chronic health conditions) to work from home or participate virtually. Attendance at religious services and cultural ceremonies is limited to a maximum of 25 percent of building capacity or 100 individuals, whichever is lower.
