First Case Of Monkeypox In Sacramento Reported

Sacramento County has reported its first case of monkeypox. According to Kron4, Public Health says the patient is isolated at home and has had no contact with anyone. Public Health has said the monkeypox virus is transmitted when a person comes in contact with an animal, person, or anything contaminated with the virus. The cases in the United States are all related to traveling internationally, the symptoms do not appear until seven to 14 days.

Monkeypox symptoms include:

  • fever
  • headache
  • muscle aches
  • backache
  • swollen lymph nodes
  • chills
  • exhaustion
