Spring 2023 Semester Will Be Free At These East Bay Colleges

Take advantage of this free semester!

Peralta Community College District announced that they will be waiving Spring 2023 course registration fees for California residents at Berkeley City College, College of Alameda, Laney College and Merritt College. Students must be California residents and complete their free application for Federal Student Aid, according to NBC Bay Area.

Some colleges are offering other perks for students who enroll.

  • Laney College: Eligible students who take more than six units can receive free groceries, lunches and more if they complete FAFSA or Dream Act applications. Deadline to complete FAFSA is April 17, 2023.
  • Berkeley City College: Eligible students who take more than six units can receive $150 clipper card, free parking and an academic grant. Classes begin on January 23, 2023 and the last day to add a class is January 29, 2023.
  • College of Alameda: Eligible students who take more than six units will receive $500 grant for books and supplies. FAFSA or California Dream Act applications must be submitted by March 30, 2023.
  • Merritt College: Eligible students who take more than six units will receive $600 grant, free breakfast, parking, hotspots and laptop use if they complete their Student Education Plan by April 10, 2023. Students must also complete their FAFSA or Dream Act Applications.
