Dwight Clark Announces He Has ALS

My heart goes out to 49er legend Dwight Clark and his family as he announced that he is battling ALS AKA "Lou Gehrig's Disease." Clark took to Eddie Debartolo's Website to tell all of us about the diagnosis and his plan to combat the disease:

“While I’m still trying to wrap my head around the challenge I will face with this disease over the coming years, the only thing I know is that I’m going to fight like hell and live every day to the fullest,”

In addition to being one of the greatest 49ers of all-time, he is one of the nicest guys I've ever met.  From a football perspective, who can forget "The Catch" from 1981: the play that signaled the beginning of the 49ers dominance in the 1980's and 1990's. I had a chance to meet him in 2013 during a tour of the KTVU studios and, on a personal level, he was the NICEST GUY EVER.  He even let me wear ALL of his championship rings on-set during a post-game on Channel 2.

Thoughts and prayers from your Star 1013 family, Dwight. Thank you for always being a champion.
