SF Mayor takes the needed step towards housing homeless veterans, FINALLY

In SF we have such a high homeless rate and many of those homeless people have a mental disorder, some whom are veterans and can't seem to get a helping hand.  I am so happy to hear that these vets are getting the attention they need.  Makes me sad to see how the people that fought for our safety and freedom are treated. In 2015, in SF 598 veterans were found.  304 of those, had been on the street for a year or more.

The rehabilitated Winton Hotel at 445 O’Farrell St. in the Tenderloin is the home to 42 veterans. Combined with 30 rooms for veterans at the recently opened Crown Hotel on Valencia Street in the Mission District, that means 72 former service members have moved off the street into supportive housing over the past few months.

Mayor Lee said, "We’re on our way to ending chronic homelessness for our vets.  This is one of my highest priorities.”
