The Final Song Chris Cornell Performed Was About Death

The final song Chris Cornell performed before his tragic and sudden death on Wednesday (May 17th) was a cover of Led Zeppelin's "In My Time Of Dying," a song that features the lyrics:

In my time of dying, I want nobody to mourn

All I want for you to do is take my body home

Cornell performed the song during Soundgarden's set at the Fox Theatre in Detriot, MI, where the band played hits like "Rusty Cage," "Fell on Black Days," and "Black Hole Sun".  The Led Zeppelin cover was merged with a performance of "Slaves & Bulldozers" - you can watch a snippet below.

Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page mourned Cornell's death on twitter, saying "RIP Chris Cornell, Incredibly Talented, Incredibly Young, Incredibly Missed."

Cornell was reported to be "upbeat" during the last show but concert goer told CNN that, "honestly something looked off last night with him. I just didn't think about it because the show was great."

Chris leaves behind his wife Vicky and three children.
