When students went back to San Benito High School on August 10, many of the girls were dressed in off-the-shoulder tops.
I mean it is so hot right now and appropriate for the Califonria weather.
However, 50 girls were given dress code violations that day for wearing said tops.
Their male classmates weren’t having it, so they showed up in similar tops in solidarity later that week.
Apparently, the dress code policy hasn't been an issue and last year students wore these tops all the time and it would be okay.
The San Benito High School dress code bans tube tops and strapless shirts.
According to the school's principal Adrian Ramirez, due to the boys' protest it has been educational for him and the staff.
He said, “I’ve had 20 to 25 students who have come in to meet with me in small groups or individually and it’s been a good process in getting their insights in regards to some of the issues [regarding the dress code].”
