Recently, a Yelp reviewer exposed a restaurant in Long Beach for using Popeye’s chicken in a few of its dishes!!
Yelper Tyler H. visited Sweet Dixie Kitchen and noticed one of the employees carrying a couple boxes of Popeye’s chicken back into the kitchen.
He then ordered the chicken and waffles just to try out the chicken.
In his Yelp review of the restaurant, Tyler H. said that the chicken did indeed taste like it had come from Popeyes.
Not wanting to make any assumptions, he decided to straight up asked his waiter how Sweet Dixie Kitchen cooks its chicken, and the waiter admitted that it was from Popeyes.
Tyler's meal was comped because his meal because he wasn't pleased with how it tasted.
Owner Kimberly Sanchez decided to respond to the allegations and confirmed that the restaurant does in fact use Popeyes chicken.
She wrote, "We PROUDLY SERVE Popeyes spicy tenders- the best fried chicken anywhere and from New Orleans."
To make matters worse, Sweet Dixie's Facebook description claimed that they made everything in house.
The owner says going forward she will continue to sell the chicken on her menu and will continue the business “the same way we have always done...honest that we make nearly all from scratch.”
This is one crazy story!!
