In the movie Titanic, one thing we all can agree on is THERE WAS ROOM FOR JACK!!
The show Mythbusters even had a whole episode proving that both Jack and Rose could have survived on that floating door near the end of Titanic.
So why did Leonardo DiCaprio's character have to die?
Titanic director James Cameron told Vanity Fair, "The answer is very simple because it says on page 147 of the script that Jack dies...very simple."
James thinks it's silly that the topic still comes up 20 years after the movie's release.
He said it was an artistic choice and "had he lived, the ending of the film would have been meaningless."
He continued, "The film is about death and separation; he had to die."
James also adds that he thinks the door was in fact big enough only for Kate Winslet's character.
However, even if that weren't the case, Jack was still going to die.
James says, "it’s called art, things happen for artistic reasons, not for physics reasons."
We still aren't over this!!!!
