This Movie Theater Has A Perfect Black Panther Menu!

Marvel Studio's Black Panther doesn't officially open until February 16, but it's already sold more advance tickets than any other Marvel movie in history.

It's so crazy that even Lupita Nyong'o, who starred in the movie, couldn't get a ticket.

With everyone so excited about the film, the upscale movie theater chain Alamo Drafthouse decided to make viewings even more special with a menu inspired by the world of Wakanda.

If you were lucky enough to snag a ticket to one of the spacious and food-friendly theaters, get ready to eat like a king or queen!

Chef Brad Sorenson, who competed on Food Network Star and an episode of Chopped, developed the menu for Alamo Drafthouse.

Though the secretive nation of Wakanda is a fictional location, Chef Brad drew inspiration from the "Wakanda-adjacent nation of Ethiopia."

Chef Brad told the Alamo Drafthouse blog he focused on using berbere spice and niter kibbeh, both of which are common ingredients in Ethiopia.

Berbere, a blend of chiles, garlic, and ginger, is incorporated into all the dishes, while niter, a butter seasoned with berbere and more garlic and ginger, found its way onto popcorn.

These are the dishes movie-goers can order from Alamo:

  • Niter Kibbeh Popcorn
  • Waadii Berbere Spiced Wings – Chicken wings seasoned with berbere spice, served with a nigella seed-garlic yogurt dip
  • African Coffee and Ginger Spiced Shake – Vanilla soft serve mixed with African coffee, ginger, cinnamon, and berbere spice (Add booze to it for a few extra dollars!)
  • Dabo Kolo – Soft, baked-to-order breadsticks seasoned with roasted barley, nigella seed, sesame, and basil

The Black Panther inspired dishes are available now at participating Alamo Drafthouse locations for a limited time.
