United Airlines Raises The Price Of Checked Luggage!

It looks like when you check in your luggage on an United Airlines flight is getting more expensive!

Starting today (8/31), the first checked bag for flights will now cost $30 (originally $25) for flights in North America, Central America and the Caribbean.

Then the second checked bag will now cost $40 (originally $35).

United Airlines said in a statement the change will allow the airline to “continue investing in the overall customer experience in today’s marketplace.”

They also said that passengers with MileagePlus Premier status in the airline’s loyalty program and customers who purchase their ticket with an eligible MileagePlus credit card, “will continue to receive complimentary checked luggage.”

United is following suit of other airlines considering JetBlue, Air Canada, and WestJet announced they were also hiking the price of checked luggage by $5 per bag.

United’s rivals, American Airlines and Delta Air Lines, charge $25 for the first checked bag and $35 for the second checked bag on many routes.

What do you think of the checked bag fee increase?

Will you still fly United or will you find a different airline?
