When you go to the spa to relax, you are putting complete trust in their hands!
Well the New Mexico Department of Health is recommending that customers who have been to VIP Spa in Albuquerque get tested for HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C!
The health department said that anyone who received any type of injection related service like the "vampire facial" should get tested ASAP, especially if they got the procedure in May or June!
During an inspection on September 7th, officials said that the practices used could potentially spread the blood-borne infections!
State epidemiologist Dr. Michael Landen told KRQE, "We undertook the inspection because a client of the VIP Spa developed an infection that may have resulted from a procedure performed at the spa."
A "vampire facial" is a non-surgical facial where a patient's blood is drawn and then components of the blood are injected back into the face using micro needles.
This procedure became popular after a lot of celebrities posted about getting them like Kim Kardashian.
The spa was issued a cease and desist letter and closed immediately.
