One on going debate in California has been about getting rid of plastic straws.
You might have seen places like Starbucks getting rid of the straws and replacing them with newly designed lids or biodegradable straws.
The purpose of this of course is to stop polluting the Earth and every little bit helps.
Well soon if you want a straw with your drink, you will have to ask your server if you're eating in a California restaurant.
This new law signed by Governor Jerry Brown officially makes California the first state to get rid of restaurants giving out plastic straws automatically with orders.
This new law will be effective next year, but it doesn't ban plastic straws completely like some cities have.
Restaurants will also given two warnings and then if they don't comply they will get a $300 fine.
What do you think about this?
