Restaurants Are Making Milk And Water The Default Drink In Kid's Meals!

If you plan on taking your children out to dinner in California, get ready to see a new law enforced that was signed by Governor Jerry Brown.

The new law says that the new default drink in kid's meals will be milk or water starting in 2019!

Restaurants in California that sell special meals for children like fast food restaurants or places that have kid's menus will now be required by law to make this change.

This law is being put into place as an attempt to combat childhood obesity and promote healthier lifestyles.

If you don't want the milk or water option, you are still able to order sodas and other drinks by request.

State Senator Bill Monning (D-Carmel) said in a statement, "Our state is in the midst of a public health crisis where rates of preventable health conditions like obesity and Type-2 Diabetes are skyrocketing, due in large part to increased consumption of sugary beverages.”

If a business breaks this new law, they will receive a written notice on the first violation.

However, additional violations over a five-year period would result in fines starting at $250.

How do you feel about this healthy change for children?
