Donut City in Seal Beach has been open every single day for the past 30 years and has become a staple in the community.
In October, it became known that the owner's wife is sick and as soon as the community got word of it there has been a line before the shop opens and donuts will be sold out by 8am.
Stella Chhan suffered an aneurysm on September 22 and her husband John continued to work and would close the shop at 3pm.
After work he would go home to take care of his wife.
This is when the neighborhood rallied together to buy out the shop's stock every morning so John could make it home to Stella earlier.
Customers were lining up as early as 4:30 a.m. to purchase dozens of donuts at a time!
John said that one morning he was able to leave at 7:30am because about 50 dozen donuts were sold that same day.
He told the OC Register that they are so thankful.
