This School Principal Was Put On Leave For Putting A Ban On Candy Canes!

In the spirit of the holidays, it seems like it's a normal thing to receive candy canes pretty much anywhere and everywhere especially in school

Well this elementary school principal in Nebraska has been placed on administrative leave after banning candy canes from her school!

Principal Jennifer Sinclair reportedly sent a memo to school administrators to make sure that no Christmas-related imagery appeared on assignments or in classrooms!

The memo allegedly said that the candy canes "Historically, the shape is a ‘J’ for Jesus. The red is for the blood of Christ, and the white is a symbol of his resurrection."

The principal did mention that winter symbols like sledding, scarves, and Olaf from Frozen were allowed.

After the memo was sent out, she was put on administrative leave.

The district issued a statement to FOX 42:

"As of this morning, Principal Sinclair has been placed on administrative leave. Due to the fact that this is an ongoing personnel issue, the District cannot comment further."

The statement also said that "the memo does not reflect the policy of Elkhorn Public Schools regarding holiday symbols in the school."

It's still unclear how long she will remain on leave or what the Nebraska district plans to do.
