Just a few months away from the October 1st deadline to have your Real ID, in order to travel. It's all a bit confusing as to what is needed to do what, so make it easier on yourself, and just get it done. And fast. I did mine, but since I had to be at Morongo Casino for an event, I stopped and did it at the small Banning DMV, and was in and out in 12 minutes. Nicest people in the world there, btw.
It looks like TSA and even LAX are aware of the rush to get it done, especially since most people work during the DMV hours. In fact, some locations are even adding or extending their weekend hours to accommodate.

My recommendation is to go to the DMV site, go through their Real ID Checklist, and bring EXTRA stuff !!! Seriously, bring TOO MUCH. I saw first hand people turned away because they were missing something, so just do yourself a favor, and bring like three of everything on the checklist.
