The tragic death of actor Luke Perry has reminded us that many of us are not too young to have a stroke. It's important to understand prevention, and know the signs of when someone is having a stroke.
Risk factors for all age groups include:
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol
- Diabetes
- Obesity
- Tobacco use
When determining if you or a loved one is having a stroke, remember FAST
F = Face: drooping or sagging on one side
A = Arm: weakness on one side of the body
S = Speech: slurred or difficulty getting words out
T = Time: Call 911 quickly and seek urgent attention.
