So, I had an emotional whirlwind weekend. First- I not only met and DANCED with one of my favorite people on the planet- Whitney Way Thore from "My Big Fat Fabulous Life", but I EXPOSED MY ARMS. This may not sound like a big deal, but trust me, it is. I've ALWAYS hated and been ashamed of my arms. I've actively worked to hide them at all times, whether at home, at the gym, at the beach, etc. I grew up like this and as an adult, I haven't been able to shake that shame.
And then there's Whitney. A plus-size girl, a FABULOUS dancer, a confident, amazing woman. She walks on stage to teach this dance class and she is SO comfortable in her own skin. Not just comfortable- confident. She OWNED the space she was in. She lit up. She glowed. And because of this, she gave women like me PERMISSION to feel safe enough to show myself. I can't tell you how important that is a woman. Sometimes it takes another person- in this case, Whitney, to give us enough courage to be "exposed."
I will have a FULL interview with her coming soon. I am so grateful for this experience, and grateful for the No Barriers Summit for allowing me this opportunity! Also.....I went sleeveless a couple times the rest of the weekend. BIG deal for me.
