Okay, if you listen to our show, you know I know NOTHING about sports. But, I kept seeing highlights over the weekend of two female tennis players, Naomi Osaka and Coco Gauff, and an emotional interaction they had during the 2019 U.S. Open. Then I watched this video and became OBSESSED with it!
So, first. Coco Gauff is 15. 15!!! She's a tennis prodigy and on the pro-circuit, representing the U.S. Over the weekend she lost to Naomi Osaka, 21, who represents Japan. It was what happened AFTER the match that has everyone talking.....watch as Naomi walks over to comfort Coco, and then asks her if she wants to be a part of the post-match interview. Coco says, "no, I'm gonna be crying" but Naomi said, "Come on, these people are here for you. They deserve to know how you feel."
AMAZING. This 21-year-old woman showed not only INCREDIBLE sportsmanship, but compassion, and empathy. I love everything about this. It's a great reminder, for basically anyone, that we grow stronger when we embrace and encourage others.
