In 2008 I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and like a lot of you, I was handed a c-pap machine. And just like you, I HATED it. Never wore it. Couldn't breathe with it on. It hid under the bed like a forgotten Playboy magazine. In 2017, a doctor told me I had NINETY percent blockage in my right nostril. It was no wonder c-pap didn't work for me, I literally couldn't breathe with my mouth closed. Breathing 80-90 percent out of my mouth was bad too: it led to snoring, sleepless nights, and the most disgusting drooling problem you can imagine. I had nasal surgery to unblock my passages but I had been a "mouth breather" (I'm laughing too) for almost my entire life so I had to find a way to untrain my mouth and FORCE myself to breathe out of my nose. It leads to less "tossing and turning," deeper sleep and ultimately, hopefully, better health. So at night, I take a hit of Flo-Nase(to clear my passages) and I strap on this monstrosity. Since I started on Monday, my fitbit says my resting heartbeat is down 4 beats and my "awake time" at night has been cut in half. I have to imagine these are the effects of better sleep. If you or someone you love has apnea (maybe it's undiagnosed and you just think it's bad snoring) get it checked. It puts so much stress on your body and can ultimately lead to congestive heart failure. Better sleep means better health. Hit me up personally if you have any questions. Much love!
