Yesterday, Demi Lovato released a deeply personal music video for her new song, "Dancing With the Devil" where she re-enacts moments from her 2018 overdose. (She also released her new album of the same name, today.) In the video, she starts with red wine and then progresses to other drugs/substances, with references to "a little white line" and "little glass pipe." The chorus says, "I was dancing with the devil, out of control/ Almost made it to heaven/ It was closer than you know/ Playing with the enemy, gambling with my soul/ It's so hard to say no/ When you're dancing with the devil."
I applaud her honesty and transparency....I can't even IMAGINE trying to re-enact something that must have been so traumatic. To this day, Demi says her health has been permanently affected from that overdose, as she suffered 3 strokes, a heart attack, and permanent brain damage and can no longer drive a car. Read more about her story here, and watch the music video below.
