Happy Cinco De Mayo! Need some quick recipes for a little fiesta tonight? Here are some of my all-time favorites!
Guacamole: My guac is simple and yummy. I like to keep it that way and let the basic flavors of avocado, onions, cilantro, and lime really shine. Plus there is a pro-tip and secret ingredient in here that is guaranteed to make your guac shine! This is the only recipe you will ever need.
Margaritas: This is another "keep it simple" situation. No mix needed, not too much sweetener. So easy and so delicious! Plus a bartender pro-tip with a fresh ingredient you didn't even think of that makes it pop: Here is the recipe.
Refried Beans: "Frojoles Refitos" are one of the great joys in life. Because it's a special occasion, use pork fat instead of olive oil, it just hits different. Yes, you need to make your beans from scratch(it's not that hard and they are EXPONENTIALLY better than canned beans). Here is my FAVORITE recipe from one of my culinary heroes: Chef John from Foodwishes.com who also happened to be a guest on my cooking podcast The Grub Up(please listen, subscribe, and share!). He is the man!
Tequila Paloma: Forget Cinco de Mayo, this is my go-to drink year round! Use a good organic tequila and fresh-pressed grapefruit juice and you're off to the races! Check out the video below...
